Many structures have already been completed to such an extent that the installation work for the mechanical and electrical engineering could be started. The plant equipment to be assembled has already been delivered to Kuwait and is being installed step by step.
The 300 kV sub-station at the site of the wastewater treatment plant has been completed and commissioned at the end of April 2022. The second sub-station (OGAL-F) is also largely completed and the commissioning is planned for March 2023.
Construction of the wastewater and treated sewage effluent pipelines is underway. As of mid-January 2023, 437 km of pipelines have already been delivered and more than 195 km have been laid. In parallel, construction of the reservoirs for the treated water, which can then be reused, is underway. Work in this area is also well advanced.
The civil and mechanical engineering work on the large pumping station in Egailah has been largely completed for the first conversion stage. Commissioning activities for the first half of the pumping station have been underway since early January 2023 and are expected to be completed by early March 2023. Immediately thereafter, the old pumps still in operation will be decommissioned and the rebuild on the second half of the pumping station can begin. Simultaneously with the commissioning of the second half of the pumping station, the newly constructed additional pumping station in Egailah will also be commissioned. At the pumping station in Sabah Al Ahmed, the concrete and reinforced concrete work is in full swing.
The almost 2 km long DN 2,200 tunnel for the emergency sea outfall was completed in June 2022. The 310 m long diffuser pipeline was towed by a ship to the installation site and lowered there. The work was completely finished in November 2022.
