WTE hands over the WWTP Kujawy to the City of Krakow

The modernized wastewater treatment plant is finished.

At the end of December 2015 WTE Wassertechnik GmbH finished timely the modernized wastewater treatment plant Kujawy und handed it over to the municipal water authority MPWiK Krakow.

In Summer WTE Wassertechnik GmbH together with its Polish subsidiary was assigned with the modernization and extension of the wastewater treatment plant Kujawy in Krakow. The aim was to gradually expand the existing facilities to a fully biological treatment process during ongoing operation. The contract from MPWiK Krakow was amounting to approx. 12 million EUR, co-financed with 55% by the EU.

In addition to the nitrogen and phosphorous elimination the ammonification of the centrate of the 100,000 PE plant was planned. To this end the blower building, the retention tanks and the sludge dewatering facility were newly constructed as well as the mechanical and electrical equipment was modernized. The construction period was 18 months.

By now WTE has been active in the Polish market for 20 years. A range of wastewater environmental projects were implemented, among these the major projects Warsaw and Szczecin that led to significant improvement of the quality of water.
