At the beginning of 2018, WTE Wassertechnik GmbH was awarded the contract for the extension of the Tubli sewage treatment plant in the capital of Bahrain.

It is expected that the contract will be signed in the next few months. The capacity of the existing plant will be doubled from 200,000 m³/d to 400,000 m³/d as part of a prime contractor order. The contract covers the construction of a sludge drying- and incineration plant with an output of around 15 MW. The construction period for the entire project is expected to take 36 months. Following which, WTE will take over the operational management for ten years.
