sludge2energy builds a sewage sludge mono-incineration plant in Hanover-Lahe
Environmentally friendly heat will be available for around 3,500 households in Hannover from the end of 2022.
The client enercity Contracting GmbH has commissioned sludge2energy GmbH - a joint venture of Huber SE and WTE Wassertechnik GmbH - with the construction of a sewage sludge mono-incineration plant in Hannover-Lahe. Regular operation of the plant, in which approx. 130,000 tonnes of dewatered municipal sewage sludge (approx. 30,000 tonnes of dry matter) will be thermally treated annually, is scheduled to start as early as the turn of the year 2022/2023. As general contractor, sludge2energy GmbH is responsible for the process engineering lot. Already during the engineering or construction of the plant, the highest priority is given to the overall energy efficiency of the plant, with which the customer enercity demonstrates a future-proof disposal route for sewage sludge with the possibility of phosphorus recovery as required by law. In addition, the plant contributes to the supply of the regional district heating network through the heat recovered in the process chain.
The main process components of the plant are - in addition to a flue gas cleaning system to ensure compliance with the permissible emission limits - two RotaDry® disk dryers and the S2E fluidiser, a stationary fluidised bed furnace with a fuel heat output of approx. 10.5 MW.
