Successful completion of takeover: WTE now part of the STRABAG Group

Published on:

STRABAG SE has successfully completed the acquisition of WTE Wassertechnik GmbH from EVN AG (closing). With the completion of the transaction, STRABAG has reached another milestone in the implementation of its Strategy 2030 and significantly expanded its portfolio in the high-growth water infrastructure sector. WTE is continuing its expansion in its core business areas of wastewater disposal, water supply and sewage sludge recycling and is working with its new owner to further develop its international project business in a targeted manner.

Strategic added value: Expansion of the service portfolio

With the acquisition of WTE, STRABAG is systematically strengthening its position along the entire water infrastructure value chain. While STRABAG already has extensive expertise in the planning and construction of water management facilities, WTE strengthens the existing portfolio, particularly in the areas of engineering, process technology and plant construction, and complements the portfolio in the long-term operation of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects as well as in the planning, construction and operation of mono-sewage sludge incineration plants.

In line with its Strategy 2030, STRABAG is thus developing into a full-service provider for water infrastructure – from project development, planning and construction to operation, modernisation and lifecycle management.

Next steps: Integration and joint growth

Following the closing, the focus will be on the structured integration of WTE into the STRABAG Group. WTE will be assigned to the International & Special Divisions segment and closely networked with the existing water expertise within the STRABAG Group.

The combination of WTE’s technical expertise with STRABAG’s financial strength, international positioning and implementation expertise is expected to unlock additional growth potential.

“The successful completion of the WTE acquisition represents a strategically important step for STRABAG. Water infrastructure is a key market of the future with high social relevance and stable long-term growth prospects. By pooling our expertise, we are becoming a full-service provider in this sector and creating an excellent basis for sustainable, profitable growth in line with our Strategy 2030.”
