WTE is also giving clean water back to nature and people on the Baltic Sea in Poland.

The idyllically situated Baltic seaside resort of Międzyzdroje (Misdroy) with its approx. 5600 inhabitants is a former fishing village on the edge of the Misdroy-Wollin terminal moraine, on the island of Wolin. The spa villas along the promenade, the spa park and the spa event centre date back to the turn of the 20th century. The shipping traffic from the nearby pier crosses directly to Usedom. Nature and hiking lovers get their money’s worth. The combination of extensive beech forests, numerous cliffs, many small lakes and bird sanctuaries has a very special appeal for many tourists. Many German holidaymakers are also attracted by the nature and sights across the nearby border.

On 12 November 2020, WTE Polska signed an order to modernise the Międzyzdroje wastewater treatment plant. The client is Zakład Wodociągów i Kanalizacji Spółka z o.o., a water supply company in the municipality of Lodz. The signing ceremony was attended, among others, by Managing Director Tomasz Jaworski and the Managing Directors of WTE-Polska Monika Wrobel and Hubertus Schütte. The net value of the contract is 11.5 million euros. The final acceptance date is scheduled for 31.7.2022. WTE is revising and optimising the client’s existing planning. The conceptual planning will be presented at the end of January 2022, followed by the approval procedures required under Polish law. Certain works not covered by the changes will already start in February 2021 on the basis of existing permits.
